Homo Sapiens
The nervous system is the control center of the body and is the most complex system. The nervous system works by sending electrochemical signals through nerves to every other organ in the body and allowing your body to complete voluntary and involuntary actions in order to keep yourself alive. The human nervous systems consists of central and peripheral sections because we are vertabrates. The central nervous system is the brain, spinal chord, and retina, while the peripheral nervous system has the sensory neurons, ganglia, and connections to the central nervous system.
Central Nervous System
The way that a neuron transmits electric signals is similar to the way that an electrical wiring does the same. A neuron sends information across an axon that is inside of a neuron. In order to transmit signals, neurons must be linked to eachother. The axon is covered by the myelin sheath. The brain is the center of the nervous system and everything that happens in the body goes through it.
