Tapeworms
Tapeworms are long, flat, and parasitic worms classified in the Platyhelminthes phylum. These worms are made up of many segments, ranging from three to a few thousand segments and can be under an inch to seventy five feet long. Many of these worms are parisites, living off of other organisms for survival. Of the over one thousand parasitic tapeworm species, only twenty-five are known to affect humans, and are not prevalant here in the United States. The tapeworm nervous system is unlike the complex system humans behold. Tapeworms have a simple ganglia, or brain, where the nerves meet. Tapeworms have lateral longitudinal nerve cords running the length of the organisms. These organisms can have from two through ten cords.
